Do you love all the modern watercolor artwork you've been seeing but are stumped as to where to start creating yourself? Don't fret! This workshop is designed to give you basic knowledge, skills and confidence to get that brush to paper and have you creating beautiful florals & geometrics.

 

With a background in acrylics and oils, I used to be terrified of watercolors. But after buying my first set of paints, I was in love!

 

In this class you will learn:

  • Basic Color Theory and Choosing a Pallet

  • How to use and care for your brushes

  • Different watercolor techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, etc.)

  • How to create geometric shapes and basic florals/leaves

  • Basic composition of patterns and bouquets/wreaths

 

There will also be time to get in depth help with questions you have about techniques, color, composition, etc.

You will receive the following take-home materials (valued at $80):

  • 3 Princeton Brushes, sizes 2 & 6 round and a flat wash brush

  • 1 Canson XL Watercolor Paper Pad, 140g 9x12"

  • 1 large 16 well pallet with space for mixing

  • 8 watercolor paints including: red, blues, yellow, pink, black, green, brown (provided in pallet)

  • pencil and eraser

  • 1 watercolor booklet with color wheel and painting guide

  • 1 fabric zip bag to take home all your supplies

Have you always wanted to learn pointed pen calligraphy? Maybe you're wanting DIY wedding invites? Here's your chance to learn the basics of calligraphy, including:

-Prepping, loading nibs and inking nibs -Introduction to the best paper and inks -Basic strokes and practice drills

You will learn new wet-on-wet techniques, how to dry your watercolors more quickly, how to layer color and how to use paints to blend with and push each other on your artwork.

You will also learn how to splatter stars onto your galaxies using a bleed-proof white paint. ($5 material fee due at workshop) Other materials will be available for use to create these fun satellites and night skies!

What's better than flowers for Mother's Day? Making a living terrarium with Mom! This partner build is a fun way to spend time creating a lasting and lovely present together.

Supplies per pair will include:
- soil
- 3 succulents
- decorative real mosses
- miniatures (mushrooms, gnomes, animals etc)
- decorative rocks and sands
- 1 terrarium (photo is just one style available to choose from!)

Now that you have the basics of calligraphy and can create minuscule sand majuscule letter forms and words, learn the beautiful and traditional form of Copperplate Calligraphy. You will learn about Copperplate style, flourishing and more.

- A short history and use of Copperplate styles
